Question by Sarah: Problem with Plugins For WordPress! Please help?
I downloaded a Twitter plugin for my wordpress blog, the instructions to install say-
Put the ‘twitter-tools’ directory into your wp-content/plugins/ directory.
How do I do that??? When I go to my plugin directory there is no tab to “add new plugin” or upload a new plugin. I am so confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you’re running a freebie on wordpress.com, you probably don’t have the ability to add new plugins.
On the other hand, you can tweet a post from wordpress.com – go to My Blogs and authorize the connection between Twitter and WordPress – and there’s a widget in most themes to show your tweets on the blog. So you may not need TwitterTools after all.

First, we need to assume you are using the WordPress self hosted installation. If you are using WordPress.com for a blog, you will not be able to install plugins. If you are in fact using self hosted WordPress that you installed on your domain, it will be in the usual place. Look under Apppearance section on the left side of the dashboard. It is in the same place as it was in previous versions.
I hope this helps!

Question by : is there a way to import a wordpress.com site that also includes the template to go to a self hosted wordpress?
The wordpress.com to wordpress.org transfer methods found only involve the wordpress plugin”import/export” or a $ 100 service from what I’ve seen. I’ve used the first method to transfer a site and realized it doesn’t transfer the entire site, excluding modifications you may have done to the template. Self hosted transfers are easy, but wordpress.com transfers seem more limiting, is there any way to transfer the mysql database and entire site when you are starting from a wordpress.com domain?

You can only get the export in an xml file as far as I know, using the wordpress export tool. And the templates on wordpress.com are not yours, they’re only on loan, so you can’t get the modifications for that either, although I suppose if you found the same theme on the internet, you could copy and paste the css file and upload to the theme directory.
