Is It Possible To Have A Static IP That Changes Everyday?

Question by CarloADJ: Is it possible to have a static IP that changes everyday?
I called my ISP and they said I am already applied for static IP but IP address still changes everyday. I have never read in any article on earth that says static IP will change everyday so I guess my ISP are just deceiving their customers (judging my ISP by considering many other factors, not just this one).

Static means just that, it never changes unless you decide to do so.
Make sure you are looking at your public IP:

Your LAN IP is irrelevant… It can be static, but your public IP may not – only the ISP can control that IP address.

That would be very stupid in their part. There’s no way a dynamic IP address can masquerade for long (like, two weeks) as a static one. It quickly becomes obvious that something’s wrong.

Try this: Monitor your IP address with the website below. Take screen captures of it showing your current IP address with at least three different values over several days, then send that to them and ask how you could have a static IP address.

    Hope that helps.

    Hey Carlo ?

No ? That defeats the whole purpose of a static IP setting. Static IP is specifically used to maintain the same IP address ALL THE TIME. Unless you didn’t configure your TCP/IP setting right. Why do you need a static IP anyways ? Running any servers or business ?

    Hope I helped
